Fat week.

“Oh well, it’s fat week!” – an excuse a friend and I used to eat exactly what we wanted, when we wanted, all week long. Friends, I suggest you never try this.

My “fat week” began on Tuesday, when a little bit of stress had me thinking of pizza & all types of junk food. I’m a stress eater, there is no doubt about it and this week was no exception. Next came Wednesday, and Thursday, and by Friday those healthy habits I had worked so hard to build were far gone. My body was unimpressed to say the least.

With the Bikini Series (Tone it Up program) in its last week this couldn’t have been any bigger of a fail. I am so so so proud of my fellow tone it uppers who have made amazing progress through the series. As seen in the many before and after pics on Instagram, you ladies look great! I can’t say the before for me is much different than the after but that completely falls on me.

To motivate myself to refresh and start on a new Tone it Up journey, one with no fat weeks & hopefully a lot more willpower, I did what any wise girl would do… I shopped. With the Tone it Up sale on this weekend, I bought myself a sweatshirt, tank top & matching necklaces for me and my TIU bestie. Motivation works better in a team, don’t you think?

Tone it up round two begins tomorrow – meals are prepped and my brain & body are ready. Here’s to second chances and learning from our mistakes <3

Tone it up tuesday

No it’s not tequila Tuesday, or toonie tuesday (which essential means the same thing). Instead Tone it Up Tuesday has become one of my favourite days of the week. Tone it Up ladies – this day is for you!

Let’s begin with what is Tone it Up. For those ladies who are not a part of the Tone it Up community, first thing is first, join! Tone it Up is about living a healthy and happy lifestyle that is about hard work, dedication but also what I love the most, fun! If you’ve ever completed a Tone it Up workout video you know, these ladies are hilarious! They are fun, energetic and honestly the best trainers the internet ever did provide. Did I mention they are a couple of hotties? Hello inspiration!

The other thing I adore about Tone it Up is the sense of community as soon as you begin your journey. Whether or not you join their nutrition plan there is abundant amount of support through their website & social media. On a daily basis I am supported and lend my support to girls across the world who share the same goals and lifestyle that I have chosen for myself. It’s much harder to fail when you have thousands of girls behind you along the way. It is also a great way to hold yourself accountable because admitting defeat to yourself may be easy, but you want to make your fellow Tone it Uppers proud!

Every Tuesday I hope to post something related to this amazing group of ladies I have been oh so lucky to become a part of. Let’s share in our successes together and push through any obstacles or bumps in the road as a team. Let’s tone it up together!

Lazy sunday

Weekends will forever be the curse of me. Like a burger with two delicious buns sandwiching it perfectly, weekends are sandwiched between two of my favourite things: alcohol and not-so-healthy food.

Spending time with friends is a must on a weekend and being mid-20s, the bar calls our names most the time. I struggle with resisting the things that often go along with this atmosphere and this is something I need to believe I can do. Am I going to give up beer? Hell no! But going into a Friday with the attitude that I’m going to cheat pretty much sets me up for failure. #proven.

After another cheat-filled weekend I woke up today with the realization that this can’t keep happening. This week I will learn how to find balance. If I’m going to drink I most definitely can’t eat so much junk food as well. Cutting back in moderation is the first step!

Today – though motivated by recent lack of motivation – I felt extremely lazy! With crappy weather and a baseball game I really wanted to watch, I decided to turn my laziness into a tiny bit of a workout. Introducing the baseball workout:

Basically every time my team was up to bat I did some kind of mini workout depending on the outcome. As my team was absolutely terrible today I ended up doing mostly burpees, my least favourite of all exercises (damn you Blue Jays).

This workout can absolutely be tweaked to include whichever areas you want to work and however many reps you feel like on that given day. I started low but next time I think I will raise the bar. You could also make another list of exercises for the opposing team to keep your workout going the whole game long. I instead did chores during those half of the innings to maximize my overall efficiency.

So it seems that lazy Sundays can be productive at the same time.

Think About It – Which sport would you play?

Professional sports – it’s something so many of us buy in to with both our money and our time. Have you ever thought what league you wish you could be a part of?

whichsport

Personally I would choose hockey. Yes, it could be the Canadian in me but I find it to be the most exciting of all of the sports I follow. Excitement aside, think of all that cardio!

I guess I wouldn’t mind the MLB or NFL for boys in tights though. & the salaries of any of them? Yes please!

According to Livestrong this is the average number of calories burned in an hour of play for each sport:

Baseball

Basketball

Hockey

Football

364

544

586

656

** This is for a 150lb player & there are many factors to be considered. Please see Livestrong for a more in depth analysis

So did you change your mind? Any sport is a better option then sitting around doing nothing, so get out there & play! :)

Guess Who’s Back!?

Just under a year ago I decided to take a break from blogging. At the time I never would have imagined that break would be anywhere near as long as it ended up being, but here we are.

Life has been a whirlwind but I am excited to start sharing again. I have joined a new team of ladies on a fitness adventure of a lifetime and I am beyond excited to be able to use this as a means to connect once again. Tone it up ladies – this is for you!

I’m keeping this short but expect a lot from me in the very near future :)
